MS Dhoni RECALLS Ian Bell | Spirit of the Decade | ENG vs IND 2011 | 2nd Test Nottingham

रोजी प्रकाशित केले 30 डिसेंबर, 2020
MS Dhoni became the winner of the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade with Dhoni’s move of recalling England batsman Ian Bell in the Nottingham Test in 2011 between India and England winning the coveted award by a unanimous vote.
Dhoni was voted unanimously for his tremendous gesture of calling back Bell after the England batsman was adjudged run-out after some confusion. It all began when Morgan flicked the last ball of the 66th over, from Ishant Sharma, to deep square leg where Praveen Kumar tumbled over trying to field. The batsmen, having taken the third, appeared to be unsure whether the ball had reached the boundary.
Morgan held up his arm to Bell, who jogged halfway down the pitch and then continued walking down. The throw from Praveen eventually came in to Abhinav Mukund, who took off the bails and appealed for a run-out. By that time, Bell had punched gloves with his partner and was heading towards the pavilion.
The umpires checked again with the Indians as to whether they had appealed. When the Indians said they had, the third umpire was asked to establish whether the ball had crossed the boundary. The two batsmen, who had reached the edge of the field, were asked not to leave the ground.
There was a delay of eight minutes as the third umpire reviewed the replay and decided that the ball had not crossed the boundary. The decision of "out" flashed up on the screen, much to the disbelief of England. It looked for all the world as though the match would be overshadowed.
As the players reappeared after the interval the home supporters disappointingly booed MS Dhoni, but suddenly it turned to cheers when they saw Bell walking down the steps. Dhoni had reversed his decision and had immediately become a hero.
Back in the time, Dhoni’s gesture was largely lauded by the fans and pundits and after a gap of nine years, Dhoni’s tremendous gesture and sportsman spirit was awarded with the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade.

  • Chutiyapantii england wale kiye,,,,,,aur game of spirit India se chaiye

  • Previously been done 20+ years earlier - Imran Khan recalling Shrikanth back after being given out LBW........then got out on the next ball. On a separate note, Dhoni is simply class. mrslow.info/zone/vhi-i/lbmqvKqoY5uLlns

  • why would he run for the fourth run if he thought it was a boundary...Dhoni the great

  • Mommy.. mommy.. I got out. Can you please get me to bat again?

  • Mommy.. mommy.. I got out. Can you please get me to bat again.

  • Shameless English players and crowd...👎👎

  • And Morgan is smart... He reached the crease

  • Hey Bell you were running for the run and when the ball came you started walking.... CHEAT

  • To all England fans and players... Explain this mrslow.info/zone/vhi-i/1KiDzMuPqpWns38

  • For all MSD fans, it was Sachin who asked MSD to recall Bell. MSD didnt want to recall him. Once a cheater always a cheater,

  • There was no need to withdraw the appeal. This Dravid and Sachin are too much sometimes

  • In a similar situation, if England had appealed and Indian batsman was given out those commentators would have said "it is quite in the spirit of the game". Doubt if England would have withdrawn the appeal like Dhoni did. After suffering two years of colonial rule, we Indians should know!

  • mindless crowd

  • England and Australia might have owned the game but India respected the game!

  • One lazy fielder could cause so much trouble.

  • this is why Jayawardene crease the bat even after hitting a boundary..

  • ok if the ball doesnt reach boundary then it should be out and he attemped a run and then faked it so he knows inside he made a mistake this is surely out there are lot of unfortunate dismisals than this

  • MSD💥💥💥

  • my short clip mrslow.info/zone/vhi-i/lr50zdN8fKN4xGo

  • How Ian bell would assume it 4 without an signal from the umpire....its fault from england side and not from indian side.....spirit of the game is destroyed by ECB

  • Immature England crowd

  • mrslow.info/zone/vhi-i/trB8ptp6hpqjm6E

  • Had this incident not been right before tea, giving Dhoni time to reflect and see the reaction from everyone, I don’t think Dhoni would’ve called Ian Bell back.

  • Its clear out. Shouldnt be called back, its not joke. Its carelessness should be punished.

  • That’s out

  • Do you think England team will do this, i think not

  • What is the spirit of the game we are talking about ? The ball is not dead and it was a clean run out 😅..

  • I wasn't familiar with the details of the incident until I saw the clip and read up on it. I must say I'm completely gob-smacked by the lack of Sportsmanship and the flagrant disregard for the spirit of the game by Strauss and Bell. Absolutely shocking. To go to an opponent and ask for a completely correct and just appeal to be overturned and then to walk out and resume play is the grossest form of entitlement. I'm just gob-smacked that Bell had the audacity to walk out and resume batting. Total respect for MSD and the team believing that the the spirit called for the appeal to be withdrawn but it should never have come to them as a request. The only right course of action was to not appeal. Bell made a mistake. It happens. A genuine response to the Indian teams actions to rescind the appeal would have been for Bell to step away from the crease and give up his wicket. Strauss and Bell's actions were very damaging to the respect for the game's laws.

  • Troll level: MS Dhoni❤️

  • Dhoni you legend. Love from a Pakistani

  • Morgan put his bat in the crease just in case!😂😂

  • Great M S DHONI

  • English crowd is the worst crowd in the world

  • Dhoni no 1

  • Paying price for being unaware on ground is the grave mistake, no need to expect sportsman spirit in this. Ball was not dead, assuming some shot as 4 without proper confirmation and later leaving crease should never been overlooked under the name of spirit of the game.

  • DHONI..😍😍... LOVE FROM PAKISTAN...

  • naive from Bell

  • The umpire didn't signal 4 and didn't call over. So Bell was out. Dhoni went up massively in my admiration for his generous concession.

  • he only did it because the english were crying. typical. they're doing it again.

  • Maahi bhai The most respected and mature man in cricket

  • The English made the rules so why get so agitated

  • The word "sportsmanship spirit" will be renamed as MS DHONI. * The legend

  • The title is extremely misleading. Facts straight - Neither batsmen going for a run He umpire returns the bowlers sweater as though the over is complete They went off for tea and Bell was given out India had all of the tea break to realise how unsporting they had been Only after all of that do India recall Bell It's the right decision to recall Bell but it was WRONG Dohni ran him out in the first instance

  • That’s why Dhoni allways best captain ever

  • Could England have not claimed those 4 runs that got them WC 2019? When were these boos? As Dhoni rightly said once.. English only talk about the spirit of the game but never practise.

  • England fans are the worst

  • English arrogance. Bell was careless and then they kick up a fuss and get their own way. Dhoni looks weak if anything.

  • Gem of the Game MS Dhoni & Men in Blue

  • mrslow.info/zone/vhi-i/xtScvdWkYph8xYc

  • Bell: Chal Chai pike aate hain

  • Shameful booing from the crowd, the wicket should have stood.

  • This is not spirit of the game👈big mistake fro msd legal out from ion bell

  • Don't you love cricket!! 🤣🤣

  • It's not dhoni its sachin sir

  • Anything can be changed by them. Batsmen declared out by umpire can also return... seriously.....!

  • How to troll England fans 😂

  • What’s spirit of decade there

    • In hindsight,THE underarm was the best sporting Infamy to happen,in NZ history ! losing a game of cricket is not the end of the world [but a loss @ a rugby RWC,is a country in mourning].!! As the incident put NZ cricket & NZ sports on the map for EVER.!!! • Bumble: "We've got the right decision." No, we don't. We may have a more palatable result, but it was the wrong decision. Bell was out. No four was signalled. No dead ball was called. Bell just decided to jog over to the other end, without ensuring he was OK to do so.

  • Cricket was played, in the true sense of the game. Ian Bell f**ked up, India ran him out by the rules, the Umpires gave him out - by the rules; India reinstated him by The Spirit....That is cricket! Also, that is MS Dhoni...a true superstar of the game.

  • Million dollar question here should be " would English players or for that matter any other team barring South Africa recalled their appeal ? " How many times have we seen batsmen given out after colliding with fielder or jumping out of crease to save themselves from getting hit by ball. I ommitted South Africa because on more than one ocassion they especially Hansie Cornje had recalled batsmen under similar circumstances. I am against Mankads but there was nothing wrong with this dismissal. In club cricket we were taught to take permission from umpires before leaving the saftey of your crease in such situations.

  • This is how English Crowd treats Guest players

  • look at it, ex colonials. he tries to throw it back, it hits his leg and then hits hits the boundary, and then bounces back. i understand objectivity is difficult. tongue in ckeek, btw.

  • spirit of indian cricket

  • Bell thought the ball was dead as did the fielder to begin with, umpires should use common sense and give him not out, Not India `s fault they played fairly, it was just one of those occurrences in cricket.

  • Honestly, that was not needed. They don't deserve these treatments and neither did Steven Smith when he was being teased by Indian fans in England.

  • To all English Bond Fans, Cheer the Indian "Single" -"07" MSD Forever

  • 10 million percent Bell's fault lol why did he get a favour?

  • That’s out every day of the week.

  • England and sportsmanship? Ask NewZealand How they were robbed off on 2019 WC

  • Dhoni looks so much in command!!

  • Where was the sportmanship during worldcup finals from England. ....

  • Bell had already started the 4th run, he only slowed after close to half pitch..then acted as if he tought it was a boundary..he would have just strolled if he thought the ball was dead

  • Spirit of the decade....pffft!! Follow the New Zealand team and you’ll see real spirit of the decade!

  • What spirit are you talking about?

  • That was out all day!

  • From villian to Hero... What a moment❤

  • Morgan should have come back for the fourth run just to be sure

  • English and Australians complaining about unfairness and unsportsman like conduct! Hahaha! Joke of the century (perhaps few centuries)!! I would be completely onboard if it were any other country than these two. Hahaha!

  • Ian Bell was always a numpty! Should have been dismissed on the spot by the Umpire. India did nothing wrong...

  • Every statesman from Dhoni

  • Lead by 187 still crying. Presenting England for U

  • Hey Indians ... Why These English people Still Cry For Life .. After all We Ve Given them ..they Still cry 😂😂WE VE BIG HEARTS BABY

  • Boooo... to claps and cheers = MS Dhoni

  • England haters cry more virgins

  • Being an Aussie, I agree. We are great great winners, but often sore sore losers, and always the competitive crap comes out. We need to be better if we want to be leaders on field.

  • People criticize Aussie for lack of spirit but reality is that Aussies always have spirit of game. They faught very hard to win the matches that's why they had five World Cup trophies in their beg. It was Bell's mistake so no need for mercy and Aussie definitely not gonna do it. They are fighters and spirit of fighters is win the game. They did Ball tampering get punishment so what is problems. They fight with player while fielding and it's part of game. And we will gonna love it if inidian also do it and win the game also. When you are playing the game then boss it like no one do.

  • This all could have been avoided had the English players come back when the umpires asked them to. They were the one who played against the spirit of the game.

  • Pretty rich with an Australian talking about the spirit of the game.

  • if ashwin was the captain. he definitely couldn't comeback :3

  • I thinnk the spirit of the game was upheld in this situation. I think the onus was unfairly put upon the Indian captain and the umpires by the two batsmen refusing to wait for a decision and declining the opportunity to discuss it pitchside. You could hardly call the Indian response a genuine appeal, more of an enquiry. Hopefully the English captain was more gracious during the break than he appeared first on the balcony.

  • It was biggest "chutiyapa" Done by Indian team. And this chutiyapa instructed by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and forwarded by msd cause loosing the match.

  • By taking withdrawal decision Dhoni made feel guilty to whole stedium people who boooed Indian players😂😂 Dhoni Rocks ❤️

  • Gore behen k lode hote hai

  • This is my team...Bahubali interval block moment @9:18 :-)

  • I would not have called him back. If he’s stupid enough to to not ground his bat then that’s his fault. This is not about sportsmanship, this about stupidity! The way the English players were staring at the Indian players especially Strauss as if they did something wrong. If I was one of the Indian players I would of stopped and stared back and told him to f*ck off

  • M S Doni masterclass. Had every right to claim the wicket, fair and square. India put up with a lot on tour no matter where they go it seems. And yes im saying that as an aussie who is disappointed in their treatment by our crowds here in recent times.

  • Do you think Michael Holding thought it was 'interesting'??

  • Rather shamed into a change of heart rather more than being sportsmanlike.

    • @Kaiserbill99 well i think everyone was a bit confused with what happened and after discussing in the changing rooms he made the choice, regardless of the english fans

    • @मानव So why not withdraw the appeal on the field before they left the field.

    • well he already decided to recall bell before they stepped out into the field so probably not

  • i think the crowd should boo bell for his carelessness

  • The English crowd is I mean crazy look how they respond this early and we all remember 2019 world cup final no sportsmanship when it comes to them
