And I am rather smart.

  • Being multilingual is my dream! I'm gonna update this comment every month so y'all can see my progress with these tips :) I'll start with French! This is gonna be a very long comment. Note: my native language is German, not English. #1: French Start: Mercredi, 20 Janvier 2021 (20-01-2021, Wednesday) Mois un Je peux déjà parler un peu de la français, mais je ne suis pas confidente. (Et je ne suis pas sûre que les sentences est vrai...) Remind me please or I'll forget this way too easily 😬

    • There are some mistakes but we can understand, keep going :D I’m French and it is not an easy language but you can do it ^_^

    • just writing this so it hopefully winds up in my notifications

  • Based on my experience, being a second language speaker requires the necessity to speak the language - imagine like you could lose your job unless level you up to a certain point where you can make communications with your target language native speaker. If you are cornered at the necessity to master a second language, there is no option but do that if you want to survive. For Japanese, English is like an alien language - totally different in various aspects such as spelling, grammar, pronunciation and accent, but I am now far from the trouble in communicating with the English native speakers, thanks to the fact that I needed to step up my English ability, without which I could have lost my career. Anyway, it’s a very interesting presentation where I agree to most of the parts. Thanks.

  • Iya ya Allah.

  • entendí que él aprendió a comunicarse en chino en 6 meses y que fue por necesidad. mi pregunta: no me moveré de mi país y quiero aprender, digamos... italiano, como aplico los principios y acciones?

  • Well I'm 2 years now living in Germany and even if I have already done some progress, I'm still lacking when it comes in terms of understanding mostly.

  • Some people just have the language gift. In no time they're communicating.

  • 日本人居る?

  • The sparkling duckling prominently peel because windshield selectively crawl by a flimsy consonant. cuddly, xenophobic gray

  • Look at the native speaker's face, but he shows us only the lower part of the face - nose and lips. I love learning languages, but I don't want anyone telling me how long it's going to take me or how easy it's going to be. It's hard, fascinating, and requires opening up and pushing yourself to your limits and beyond. And it is extremely clear to me that English is a terrible language to start out with - 3 forms of the verb and no gender. If you have a good reason to learn a language, go out and do it, and get as much help as you can. I live in a country where 5 major languages are easily accessible, and so those are the ones I've been working on non-stop for years, because if you stop, that's the end of the ballgame. Another extremely important point - I teach 2 of those languages to people who speak the other 3/4.

    • This is very insightful! I also understand what you mean about English being hard to start with. It makes Spanish really weird because I never think to check gender. I have Spanish for school and I’m doing fairly well so far, but way school crams it makes it less appealing to learn. I’m going to attempt to learn Japanese since it really interests me and I hope I have good luck with it. Any other tips you can give me that he may not have said?

  • Very helpful thanks

  • I'm watching a new tv show. i changed the language setting to Dutch before starting. Its helping me learn

  • I agree with this bc I took French for 3 years and I barely remember anything I learned last year. I'm a visual person and it takes me a while to understand/ respond to what u say in a different language. Like I can guess, but I won't be able to respond.😅 It's like reading cursive, but can't write it. Plus I don't think I'll use it in my everyday life so... I just wish my middle school teacger was a bit more patient with me and stop giving me tests and quizzes bc they were stressful and I kept drawing a blank. My High school teacher was more understanding and wanted to ditch the books as best as she could. 😂🐩🗼

I'm Vietnamese and living in Vietnam, I've study English for a couple of years and I've just started learning Japanese by Duolingo for 3 days. I utterly want to master a new language fast.

  • As a man finally starting to truly see the light at the end of the tunnel after 4 years of scary depression, this excites the heck out of me as I am so ready to find the diamond within. I've been learning guitar and to draw, both being so healing. Finally learning to speak a second language would take things to a whole new level for me. This is truly one of the most eye-opening presentations. World here I come.

  • I think the master key to learn anything is confidence. Tell yourself that you can actually make it even if you don't believe it ( fake it til you make it). I can speak english correctly , I am still not fluent but at least I can handle long conversations and write essays, however it took me too long to be able to do so and that because I was focusing too much on the grammar part which is a mistake. Now that I learned Turkish without actually willing to ( through movies and series), I realized it , so I am not going to make the same mistake while learning Spanish.

  • Today is Jan 16 2021 I'll be back in July 16 2021 I'll tell you about my experience by learning Mandarins (Chinese). Actually I am currently living in China since 2019. & I don't know much about Chinese language and characters (jokes apart i have passed HSK 1 by cheating). Wish me luck
